Nambour State High School is set to rock the community with its latest musical: Little Shop of Horrors

Come and see one strange and exotic Plant ….  But be careful …… She Bites

Nambour State High School is set to soar in their latest spectacular musical production:  Little Shop of Horrors. The show is set to roar onto the stage in late May 2012.  The cast and staff have been working very hard getting ready for this exciting performance.

Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical, bycomposer  Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s  rock and roll and roll, doo-wop and early Motown,  includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".

In addition to the original long-running 1982 off-Broadway production and subsequent  Broadway production, the musical has been performed all over the world.

Nambour State High School will put its own stamp on this wonderful production with a show that is designed to stun with fantastic choreography, wonderful sets and costumes and a live rock band. The leads and ensemble have been well cast to ensure a show stopping production.

The school has an outstanding history of excellent musicals including:  Man of SteelWolfstockBye Bye BirdieThe WizGrease and Peter Pan.  All of these musicals have been very successful with sold out seasons.  This musical looks to be no different with rehearsals well into full swing.
The school is currently housing the ‘giant’ Audrey 11 plant.  She is certainly one “Green mother from outer space”.This is also the name of one of her leading songs.  She is certainly worth seeing; Audrey II is one ‘strange and exotic plant’.   The plant has currently moved to Nambour after having the starring role to rapturous applause in a production in Sydney.
